Foundation Work Begins on the Nemours Children’s Hospital

On Friday, August 7, the construction manager for the Nemours Children’s Hospital, Skanska USA Building Inc., began pouring concrete for the foundation of the hospital in Lake Nona’s medical city.

The first foundation pour began on the Central Energy Plant which will house the infrastructure and energy systems that support the entire campus. Other site work continues as a steam-driven pile driver continues to embed stone columns for support of the hospital foundations. The stone columns will support the seven story hospital to keep it stable and anchored into the ground in the event of hurricanes. As the stone columns are completed over the next several weeks, the foundations and columns will start to emerge.

Below are some images from the Nemours Children’s Hospital foundation pour.
