Our Journey
Community Research Overview
In late June 2006, Nemours initiated a research study to obtain community input as to health care services for children in the tri-county area in response to several letters of “objection” to their plans to build a new facility. These findings are below.

- 94% favor a new children’s hospital in Orlando that would provide a central location for all appointments, scheduling, and diagnostic and laboratory work usable by any doctor or nurse within that hospital’s system
- 95% support a hospital that would focus on subspecialty services for medically complex children given that the community hospitals already provide general pediatric services
- 54% have heard of Nemours Children’s Clinic
- 95% believe the population of Central Florida would support the addition of new pediatric subspecialty physicians who would be part of Nemours pediatric health care system
- 6. 95% would favor a new Nemours children’s hospital dedicated to specialty services for medically complex children given that the community hospitals already provide adult and general pediatric services
